First Vows

Sister stands before the altar in preparation for her first vows, which is symbolized by a change from the white veil of a novice to the black veil of a professed sister.

Before professing her vows, Sister is presented a black veil , which she will wear her as a professed sister.

On August 15, the solemnity of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary, S Desirè Anne-Marie Findlay pronounced her first profession of vows with family, friends, and Felician Sisters present at Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary Convent in Rio Rancho, NM. The date also marks the patronal feast of the sisters residing at the convent in Rio Rancho.

In his homily, Father Scott encouraged Sister Desirè to remember that it is by the power of God that she is given the grace to give herself to the service of God and his people through her public profession of vows. He said that, like Mary, the mother of God, who was assumed into heaven by the power of God, God will also accompany Sister Desirè and give her the grace to remain faithful to her vows.
You can follow Sister as she faces new challenges, experiences and events through  her blog Religious Life for Beginners.

In her own words:  How I got here!

Sister Desirè is in Pomona, CA, where she begins her ministry of teaching in Southern California as of August 16th.
