SM Michael Malek of Livonia, MI, celebrated her 101st birthday with 20family members at St. Joseph Care Center on Friday, May 24.
The following day, her actual birthday, she had what Polish grandparents called Poprawiny, celebrating 101 years with all the sisters at St. Joseph Care Center. In spite of her arthritic issues, she wheels herself to the chapel daily and participates in the recitation of the Office and daily Mass. She takes her own tray and walks through the line in the dining room and enjoys her meals with the sisters at her table. Up to a few years ago, she played the organ for Mass at St. Francis Home in Saginaw, MI. She continues to enjoy crocheting and needlework and is still very active in daily activities–cards, dice games, bingos, puzzles, etc. She is a perfect example of growing old gracefully.
May God bless her as she begins her 102nd year of graceful living!
