Sister Angelise Opens Door of Vocations
In the Acts of the Apostles 14:19-28, Paul and Barnabas gathered the Christians to report to them what God had done with them and how He had opened the door of faith to the Gentiles.
When second-year novice SM Angelise Doak came to shadow at Our Lady of Czestochowa Parish in North Tonawanda, NY, S Maureen Helak invited her to open the door of vocations to the students in the religious education classes.
With great enthusiasm and joy, Sister Angelise met with the students in two sessions, grades K-4, and 5-8. She discussed topics ranging from vocations, to Blessed Mary Angela, the Felician Sisters, and Our Lady of Czestochowa, to her relationship to the Felician Sisters. The students came to know the difference between Sister Angelise, a novice, and Sister Maureen, a sister for many years.

Sister Angelise said that with the exciting presentation and the fruits of the questions asked and responded to as well as the cooperation of Kathy Kokanovich, director of religious education and the religious education teachers, hopefully some seeds for a religious vocation were sewn.
Father Gary Szczepankiewicz, pastor, who teaches the 5th grade class, approached Sister Maureen on Monday and said: “That Sister was really good.”
